"E.R." and Liberal Christianity's Impotency to Deal With Guilt

Hat tip to Trevin Wax for the posting of this video. I'd love to know the backstory of the writer who penned this dialogue for a 2011 episode of ER. The episode of ER is called “Atonement.” The clip features a man dying of cancer who is seeking atonement for past sins. 

His confrontation with a liberal chaplain demonstrates the impotency of liberalism to deal with the reality of guilt: “I need answers! I want a real chaplain who believes in a real God and a real hell!”
