Strengthened by Grace Devotional: 1/22/20

Prayer for Wednesday: Great God of Heaven, grant that I might bind myself to You this day and walk faithfully throughout the tasks You have appointed for me. As I do so, remind me, O Christ, of Your truth and Your sacrifice. Let me see Your love in these things and let me be reminded that my truest identity is as Your son or daughter. Lord, I give to You my anxiety and my fear, my depression, and my doubts, for You have promised to take them if we only ask; and I take upon myself Your burden, for it is light and your way is gentle. May I keep this in my heart and mind all this day. In Christ's Name, Amen.

Scripture Reflection for Wednesday: Today's journey "Through the Bible" visits Exodus 12-13.

In Exodus 12, we are reminded that Christ’s work of salvation upon the cross was also a work of judgment against Satan and this world for the sake of the glory of God. Christ is the Lamb that bought people from all nations for God, redeeming them from God’s wrath with His blood and setting them free from sin (1 Peter 1:18–19). He ultimately will save His people and if you want salvation you only need turn to one Person: the Lord Jesus Christ.

In Exodus 13, we see that the Lord is with His people. The cloud of glory was a public revelation to the whole people of God’s presence and will, similar to the public revelation of the Scriptures given to the church, in which believers see the glory of Christ (2 Cor. 4:6). Christ assures believers that God is with them, directs them, and fills them with awe at His glory. How can Christians seek a deeper experience of Christ through the Word?

Spiritual Meditation for Wednesday:

Think of the day ahead in terms of God with you, and visualize health, strength, guidance, purity, calm confidence, and victory as the gifts of His presence.

May God help you to grow in Christ today,
