On Thanksgiving We Gratefully Acknowledge the Keeper of Our Souls

 Psalm 121

1 I lift up my eyes to the hills.

From where does my help come?

2 My help comes from the Lord,

who made heaven and earth.

3 He will not let your foot be moved;

he who keeps you will not slumber.

4 Behold, he who keeps Israel

will neither slumber nor sleep.

5 The Lord is your keeper;

the Lord is your shade on your right hand.

6 The sun shall not strike you by day,

nor the moon by night.

7 The Lord will keep you from all evil;

he will keep your life.

8 The Lord will keep

your going out and your coming in

from this time forth and forevermore.

In the rugged terrain of life's journey, where do you turn for help? The psalmist's gaze rises beyond the hills, past the challenges and uncertainties of the earthly landscape, and fixes on the sovereign Creator of heaven and earth. As we traverse the varied terrain of our lives, we too must lift our eyes to the One who provides unfailing assistance.

Our help comes from the Lord—the Maker of all things. He who formed the mountains, carved the valleys, and set the boundaries of the seas is the very source of our strength and aid. In a world marked by change and instability, our God remains steadfast, unmovable, and unchanging.

Take comfort, for the Guardian of your soul never sleeps nor slumbers. He is vigilant, attentive to every step you take. The One who neither falters nor grows weary is your ever-watchful Keeper. In the bright light of day and the quiet shadows of night, His providence surrounds you, providing shade and protection.

In the scorching heat of life's trials or the cool darkness of its uncertainties, the Lord is your refuge. His watchful eye shields you from the harmful rays of adversity, and His steadfast love guards you against the shadows of doubt and fear.

Rest assured, dear one, for the Keeper of Israel is your Keeper. He guards your life with unwavering commitment. From the moment you step out into the world to the instant you return home, His faithful watch extends over you.

As you journey forth, remember the promise of Psalm 121. The Lord is the eternal Guardian of your soul, and in His capable hands, you find unending safety and enduring peace. Trust in Him, for He who keeps you neither sleeps nor slumbers. You are secure in the shadow of His mighty hand, now and forevermore.

In the steadfast name of Jesus,

Amen.
